Amongst a crowd of thousands, one woman raised both of her hands and held two peace signs in the air. Like dominoes, one by one every person surrounding a still body of water raised there hands as well. The moment was impromptu, but embodied solidarity. I was brought to tears.
This evening, over 7,000 people gathered around Lake Merritt in Oakland to join hands in response to the election of Donald Trump. Music of different cultures and salsa dancing energized the crowd, a melting pot of people from all across the Bay Area that traveled to the city to join hands around the 3.4 mile circumference of the lake.
With anger, there is peace. Here are a few images from tonight's gathering.
